‍ Updated june 04, 2025

The proliferation of generative AI is having a profound impact on hiring trends. Companies are scrambling to manage and leverage data for AI applications, leading to a dramatic increase in demand for database architects. according to PwC, jobs for database architects have soared⁣ by 2312% in the last year.

Statisticians are also in ⁢high demand, with ⁣a 382% increase in job openings over the‍ same period. This reflects the growing need for professionals who can analyse and interpret‍ the vast amounts of ⁤data ‍used by AI systems.

Mitchell of PwC emphasized that AI is not primarily eliminating jobs. Rather,it is indeed changing how work is done.‍ She noted that true job displacement occurs onyl when about 80%⁢ of tasks can be fully automated, ‍a threshold not yet reached for most roles. The primary impact of genAI is to augment⁢ existing skillsets, making professionals more⁣ efficient and enabling them to focus on higher-value tasks.

pwc also found increasing AI adoption ⁤across various industries, including traditionally low-tech sectors like mining and agriculture. Furthermore, wages⁤ in sectors ⁢heavily exposed to AI are rising at twice⁢ the rate of those less exposed. Workers with AI skills are earning a 56% wage premium, ⁣a significant increase from 25% the previous year.

What’s next

As AI continues to evolve, the demand for skilled data professionals is expected to remain strong. ⁣Companies will likely continue to invest in AI technologies, further driving the ‍need for workers who can manage, analyze, and ⁣interpret data.
