Geneva Writers Group Celebrates Literary Prize Winners

The Geneva Writers Group (GWG) has announced the winners of its 2025 Literary Prize, recognizing outstanding work in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The awards, established in 2013, aim to celebrate and support English-language writers in Geneva and beyond.

The announcement follows a period of review, with the GWG noting they received a “wonderful” number of submissions and faced a “tough choice” in selecting the winners. The theme for the 2025 prize was “hope & resilience,” inviting writers to explore the power of overcoming challenges.

2025 Literary Prize Winners

The winners, announced on LinkedIn, are as follows:

  • Fiction: 1st – Phoebe Hurst, 2nd – Ali Miremadi, 3rd – Re’lynn Hansen
  • Non-fiction: 1st – Jessica Austin

The winners each received a cash prize and a free GWG workshop.

GWG Activities and Events

The GWG’s commitment to the writing community extends beyond the annual Literary Prize. The organization also hosts workshops, events, and a yearly conference. This year marks the 14th edition of the international Geneva Writers Conference, scheduled to take place from November 14th to 16th.

A reading of works by some of the prize winners and featured writers was held this past Saturday, January 24, 2025, at 12:30 PM at the Maison Internationale des Associations in Pâquis, following the GWG’s Annual General Meeting. The event was open to all.

About the Geneva Writers Group

The Geneva Writers Group was founded to support and connect English-language writers. The organization’s mission is to expand and strengthen the English-speaking writing community, both locally and internationally. Information about upcoming workshops, writing opportunities, and how to enter next year’s Literary Prize can be found on their website.

The GWG also hosted a “Listen Again” podcast on May 21, 2025, featuring Tara Kerpelman Puig discussing the organization’s mission and the Literary Prize with WRS’ Katt Cullen.
