The Gretsch Synchromatic 160 guitar used by George Michael in the music video for Faith will be sold at auction on October 29, 2026. The instrument is expected to fetch between £60,000 and £120,000, according to reporting from Far Out Magazine and The Guardian.
The auction will take place both online and in-person at Sworders in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. The guitar and other accompanying items will be available for public viewing for one week prior to the sale at Sworders in London, Far Out Magazine reports.
Provenance of the Faith Guitar and Collection
The guitar is part of a personal archive previously held by Siobhan Bailey, who served as George Michael’s assistant until her death in 2014. The current auction is being organized by Bailey’s widower, according to The Guardian.
The Gretsch Synchromatic 160 is distinguished by a sunburst finish on the body. It includes a case featuring the inscribed words Rockabilly Rebel, Far Out Magazine reports.
Additional Auction Lots and Memorabilia
The Faith guitar is the primary item among 32 total lots being offered. Far Out Magazine notes that the collection includes various items from Michael’s tenure with Wham and his solo career, such as:
- Gold and silver discs
- Tour memorabilia
- Itinerary documents for Wham’s 1985 tour of China and their Live Aid performance
- An invitation to a lunch with David and Victoria Beckham
The sale also features a metal lighthouse statue gifted to Michael by the Malaga city council in 1989. That specific item carries an estimated value of £200 to £400, according to Far Out Magazine.
Timing and Related Film Release
The auction occurs as the tenth anniversary of George Michael’s death approaches at the end of 2026. Far Out Magazine reports that the sale coincides with the upcoming release of a new film titled George Michael: The Faith Tour in November.

The film is directed by Andy Morahan, who also directed the original music video for the song Faith. According to Far Out Magazine, the production utilizes previously unseen archived footage from one of Michael’s 1988 performances in Paris.
