George Mills delivered a stellar performance⁣ at the Diamond League meet in ​Paris, finishing third in the men’s 1500m. ‌His time of 3 minutes, 28.36 seconds is the second-fastest ‌ever run by a British athlete, solidifying ⁤his ⁣role ⁣as a top contender.

Mills,26,continues⁢ his extraordinary form after recently breaking Sir Mo Farah’s British ⁢5,000m record in Oslo. He now⁤ sits second on the all-time UK 1500m list, only behind‍ Josh Kerr’s 3:27.79 ​performance at ‌the 2024 ​Paris olympics. Azzedine Habz,⁣ cheered on by the home crowd, won the ⁢race ‌with a ⁢meet and ⁤French national record of 3:27.49. Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech of kenya finished second, setting a world ⁢junior record in ‌the process during the non-Diamond League race.

In the women’s 200m,‍ Amy Hunt of Great Britain secured second place with a season-best time of ‌22.45 seconds. Anavia Battle of the ‍United⁤ States⁢ took first. Dina Asher-Smith, a former world‌ champion,​ finished sixth ‌despite a strong start. Georgia Hunter ⁢Bell, aiming for her ⁣second‍ Diamond League​ win this season, also finished sixth in the women’s 1500m. Sarah Healy of Ireland came in second with a personal best of 3:57.15, trailing Nelly⁤ Chepchirchir of Kenya.

What’s next

The Diamond League series continues with upcoming meets in Eugene, OR, and⁤ Monaco,​ before heading to London on⁢ July 19 for a sold-out event. The finals are‌ scheduled for Aug. 27-28 in Zurich, leading up to the⁣ world Athletics‌ Championships in Tokyo.
