Georgia Tech Kendo Club Triumphs at Southeastern Championship
Members of the Kendo Club at Georgia Tech (KGT) recently achieved success at the Southeastern United States Kendo Foundation Championship Tournament. This annual event showcased skilled kendo practitioners, known as kendo-ka, from the Southeast.
Three KGT members earned awards. Shawn Ha, a fourth-year Ph.D. student in aerospace engineering, won first place in the 3-Dan and 4-Dan divisions. Daniel Duan, a fourth-year computer science major, and Jonathon Choi, a fourth-year mechanical engineering major, faced off in the Mudansha division finals. Duan took first place, with Choi securing a close second.
These achievements highlight KGT’s strengthening reputation in the kendo community. Ryan Wolfe, the club’s promotion officer, praised the members’ dedication and the strong training support from the club. Faculty advisor Daniel C. Kim and instructor Bryan Kapplow greatly contributed to the club’s growth and success in recent semesters.
KGT invites new members of any skill level every semester. For more information and updates, visit the Kendo Club’s Engage page or follow them on Instagram.
