While the full extent of Thomas’s injuries remains⁢ unclear, he downplayed their severity promptly following the stage. He told reporters⁢ that he caught ⁣a lip on the road, twisting his knee and hamstring. Despite finishing the stage, the aftereffects proved ⁣significant enough to sideline him from the race.

The ‍Welshman aims to compete ⁤in his 14th and final Tour de France⁣ before retiring at the Tour of Britain in August. This crash presents an unexpected challenge in his preparation.
