German Tourist Injured by Fish Bite at Khao Lak Beach: Authorities Issue Warnings
A German tourist was injured while swimming at Khao Lak Beach in Phang Nga province. The 57-year-old man suffered a deep bite on his left leg, measuring about 15 centimeters wide and 30 centimeters long.
Local officials, including the Takua Pa district sheriff and the president of the Phang Nga Tourism Business Association, visited the scene to investigate. A lifeguard from a nearby hotel reported that the tourist called for help while in the water. When the lifeguard reached him, they saw the severe bite wound.
Initially, people speculated that a shark may have attacked, but experts are needed to identify the fish species involved. The injured tourist was taken to a hospital in Phuket province for treatment.
In response, local authorities and hotel operators placed red flags on the beach to warn tourists. They advised swimmers to be cautious while enjoying the water.
