Germany Unleashes Fury: 5-Goal Thrashing of Hungary Sends Shockwaves Through European Nations League
Germany Kicks Off European Nations League with Convincing 5-0 Win Over Hungary
The German national team marked the beginning of a new era with a resounding 5-0 victory over hosts Hungary in Dusseldorf, as both teams embarked on their journey in the fourth season of the European Nations League.
Following their quarterfinal exit from the Euro 2024 tournament earlier this summer, the German national team bid farewell to key players Ilkay Gundogan, team captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, and veteran striker Thomas Müller. Additionally, Toni Kroos, the Spanish Real Madrid star, has retired from international football.
Under the guidance of young coach Julian Nagelsmann, the German national team delivered an impressive technical display in front of their fans in Dusseldorf. They took the lead in the first half with a 27th-minute goal from Niklas Volkrug.
In the second half, the Germans extended their advantage with two goals from Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz in the 57th and 66th minutes, respectively. Substitute Aleksandar Pavlovic made his mark by contributing to the fourth goal in the 77th minute, before Kai Havertz sealed the victory with a fifth goal from a penalty kick in the 81st minute, securing the Germans’ first three points of their campaign in Group Three.
The German national team is set to face a strong test in the second round when they visit the Netherlands next Tuesday, while the Hungarian national team will play against their hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina on the same day.
