Gerwyn Price secured a semi-final berth at the World Grand Prix in Leicester after surviving three match darts in a final-leg victory over Jonny Clayton. Price mounts comeback in all-Welsh clash
Gerwyn Price trailed by two sets in his quarter-final match against Jonny Clayton before mounting a recovery. Price claimed six of the next seven legs to level the match, eventually forcing a deciding set. Clayton missed a match dart to clinch the victory in straight legs, and later missed two additional opportunities in the final-leg decider. Price capitalized on those misses to finalize the win. This marks the fifth time in seven years that Price has reached the World Grand Prix semi-finals.
I know what it’s like to be in front and losing, but I feel like I was the better player all the way through the game. I’m just glad I got over the winning line. I thought I was dead and buried, but I never gave up.

Aspinall averages 105.15 against Joyce

Aspinall recorded a 105.15 average, which stands as the fourth-highest in the history of the tournament and the best recorded in a World Grand Prix quarter-final match. Aspinall controlled the contest from the start, taking the opening set in 42 darts and maintaining his momentum throughout the match.
My starting, my finishing, my 180s – it’s probably one of my best performances ever on stage for my whole career. I feel like I can win this tournament, and I feel like I’m ready to win another major again.

Wade dominates Van Veen in Leicester
James Wade reached the semi-finals for the first time since 2014 after a 3-0 victory over third seed Gian van Veen. Wade won the first eight consecutive legs of the match and did not concede a dart at double until the third set. Van Veen converted his only leg of the contest in that set, but Wade closed out the match on tops to secure the win.
I was really fortunate Gian played like he did. He was pretty poor and I capitalised on that and bashed him up. Tonight, I felt more up for it. When I’m feeling up for it, I’ve done alright.
