Participate in Our Research Studies
Hello, I am Seulgi Yoo, a PhD candidate and research assistant working with Professor Eunok Lim’s research team at the Department of Nursing at the University of Texas at Austin. We are currently conducting three studies aimed at providing solutions to the difficulties faced by Korean women living in the United States.
Study 1: WPAPP - A Web-App Based Lifestyle Physical Activity Promotion Program
We are conducting a study on a web/app-based lifestyle physical activity program to improve depression among middle-aged Korean women living in the United States. To participate, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Korean-American woman between the ages of 40 and 65
- Have Korean parents or grandparents
- Be sedentary but have no disabilities that would impede physical activity
- Be able to read and write English or Korean
- Have access to the Internet
- Have experienced depression within the past two weeks
If you are eligible and agree to participate, you will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. Depending on which group you are assigned to, you will either access educational information or participate in an online forum and 1:1 coaching/support program. All participants will complete the survey three times, and the total duration of the study will be 12 months. Upon completion of the survey at each time point (pre-test, 6 months, and 12 months), you will receive a $50 gift card per time point (up to 3 times) for up to $150 for your participation in the study. You will also receive a Fitbit.
