Suwon Jangan-gu Public Health Center Offers Dementia Prevention Program for Seniors
The Suwon Jangan-gu Public Health Center is operating the ‘Body Strong Classroom’, a dementia prevention and health promotion program for seniors over 65 years of age, until December 12th.
Program Details
The ‘Body Strong Classroom’ is a dementia prevention and physical ability improvement program targeting seniors at risk of developing dementia. Public health center occupational therapists and physical therapists conduct the program, which provides a variety of activities including cognitive stimulation content and customized strength training using a tablet PC.
Program activities include attention training, flexibility exercises, and resistance exercises to improve strength and endurance. The program will be held in the auditorium on the 5th floor of the Jangan-gu Public Health Center every Thursday from 1:30 PM until December 12th for one hour, and 20 seniors will be recruited.
Program Goals
An official at the Jangan-gu Public Health Center stated that the goal of the ‘Body Strong Class’ is to help strengthen the cognitive functions of the elderly in the area and maintain their physical health. The center also plans to prepare various health programs to help the elderly maintain an active daily life.
