Get Ready for a Graphics Revolution: AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs Set to Launch Early 2024
AMD to Release RDNA 4 GPUs by Early 2025
AMD CEO Lisa Su announced during the company’s third-quarter earnings call that it will release GPUs using the new RDNA 4 chip architecture by early 2025. This marks the first official confirmation of such plans.
The RDNA 4 architecture is expected to bring significant improvements to gaming performance, enhanced ray-tracing capabilities for realistic light and reflection simulation, and new artificial intelligence features.
Although rumors had circulated about RDNA 4, including a potential launch at CES 2025 in January, AMD’s official announcement provides a clearer timeline for the release of these GPUs.
Despite the upcoming release of RDNA 4 GPUs, AMD expects its revenue to decline this quarter. This decline is largely attributed to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles nearing the end of their life cycle, reducing the company’s focus on this segment. However, it’s worth noting that gaming industry revenue accounts for only 2% of AMD’s total revenue, with over 50% coming from the data center.
