Ross Young has leaked to MacRumors that the first iPhone 17 and the new thin “iPhone 17 Air” design will use a display that supports ProMotion 120Hz. This means the regular iPhone 17 could be the first regular iPhone to use a 120Hz refresh rate after using 60Hz for a long time.

ProMotion 120Hz will help the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air display smoother. The iPhone 17 is expected to use a display that supports a refresh rate starting at 10Hz or 1Hz, while the iPhone 13 Pro will use a refresh rate starting at 10Hz before arriving. Changed in the iPhone 14 Pro up to the iPhone 16 Pro which uses the lower refresh rate of 1Hz.
