Canon Releases 3D Photography Lens for EOS VR SYSTEM
Canon announced the release of the 3D photography lens for the EOS VR SYSTEM, the RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL, on October 30th. The lens is set to be released in mid-November and is compatible with Apple’s mixed reality (MR) headset, Vision Pro spatial video.
Export in Various Formats Including Spatial Video
When combined with the EOS R7, this 3D photography lens allows you to shoot 3D images at an angle of view of approximately 60°, which is close to the human field of view. The RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens is now available for pre-order on Canon’s official website, priced at 77,000 yen (tax included).
3D images shot with this lens can be exported in a variety of formats, including Apple Vision Pro spatial video, 3D Theater, and 3D 180°.
The Lens Announced at WWDC is Finally on Sale
Canon’s 3D photography lens was announced at the World Wide Web Developers Conference (WWDC) in June of this year, and now it is finally on sale.
According to Apple, spatial videos shot with the EOS R7 can be edited on Mac using Final Cut Pro and can also be uploaded to the video platform Vimeo. Spatial video editing functionality is expected to be added to Final Cut Pro in mid-November, and Vimeo already released the Vision Pro app last month.
