IFA 2024: Europe’s Largest Home Appliance Exhibition Celebrates 100 Years of Innovation
IFA 2024, Europe’s largest home appliance exhibition, is set to take place in Berlin, Germany from September 6th to 10th. This year’s event marks the 100th anniversary of IFA, which is being held under the theme of ‘innovation for all.’ The exhibition is expected to attract over 2,200 companies and organizations from 139 countries, as well as 182,000 visitors.
Keynote Speakers and Events
The event will feature keynote speeches from prominent industry leaders, including Mark Barocas, CEO of SharkNinja, George Zhao, CEO of Honor, and Omer Jungel, CEO of Vestel. The day before the opening, a keynote speech by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and a performance by Canadian rock star Bryan Adams will take place.
Korean Companies to Showcase Latest Technologies
According to industry sources, 127 companies and organizations from Korea, including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, KT, Bodyfriend, Cuckoo Electronics, Athome, and the Korea International Trade Association, will participate in this year’s IFA. Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, which lead the global home appliance market, are expected to be among the main attractions.
The two companies will engage in a technological showdown, showcasing their latest innovations in ‘AI Home’, which connects artificial intelligence (AI) home appliances. Korea has been selected as an innovation partner country for ‘IFA NEXT’, a startup platform that focuses on next-generation technologies.

A History of Innovation
IFA began in 1924 as a way for the German government to showcase the innovative technology of radio. Over the past 100 years, it has grown into a venue for technology competition among home appliance companies from around the world. Many groundbreaking products have been introduced at IFA, including the world’s first car radio, color TV, portable TV, compact disc (CD), and DVD player.
IFA vs CES: What’s the Difference?
While IFA provides insight into the second half of the year and suggests trends for next year, CES shows the latest trends in the IT and home appliance industries in the first half of the year. IFA is characterized by its focus on home appliances, while CES showcases a wide range of IT and consumer technology.
IFA is often referred to as a miniature version of CES, but it has its own unique strengths and focus areas. The Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona, Spain, focuses on IT and the mobile communications ecosystem.
