Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of erhu music at the second performance of the Tao Series Concerts. Transcendence II, conducted by Mr. Darrel Xin of Tao Ensemble, promises to be an enchanting evening of traditional music. The concert will feature performances by two Tao Ensemble members, Lim Kwuan Boon and Ryan Lim, as well as seven talented young erhu players. Clarissa See, the Mapletree-Tao Scholarship winner, will also take the stage.
A Musical Odyssey Through Time
Transcendence II will take the audience on a captivating journey through the evolution of erhu music over the past century. The concert will begin with timeless classics by Liu Tianhua, a pioneer of modern erhu music. Witness how erhu music has been influenced by other instruments, as seen in “Sunshine Shining on Taxkorgan”. The evening will also feature “Sixth Erhu Rhapsody”, a technically demanding piece composed by Wang Jianmin in 2023. Music Director Darrel Xin will premiere a new ensemble work, specially created for this performance, promising a refreshing musical experience.
