September 18, 2024

The local governments of Hokusetsu in northern Osaka Prefecture, comprising Toyonaka City, Ikeda City, Suita City, Takatsuki City, Ibaraki City, Minoh City, Settsu City, Shimamoto Town, Toyono Town, and Nose Town, have joined forces with Murakawa Gakuen (Izumiotsu City, Osaka Prefecture) to create a unique “Hokusetsu Bento” showcasing the region’s ingredients. To make this vision a reality, they are now calling for recipes from the public.

The recipe submission period is open until October 11th. A two-round judging process will be conducted, with the results announced and a unveiling ceremony held on January 21st next year. The ultimate goal is to promote the charms of Hokusetsu through its cuisine, targeting visitors to Osaka Prefecture during the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

Eligible applicants include high school and university students residing in or attending school in the cities and towns of the Hokusetsu area. To qualify, recipes must incorporate at least three ingredients from different cities and towns, as listed on the ingredients list for each city or town.
