Updated June 15, 2025
Chantilly, France — Gezora, ridden by Christophe Soumillon, secured a hard-fought victory in the Prix de Diane longines at Chantilly. The Francis-Henri Graffard-trained filly demonstrated her staying power in the 10-furlong race, holding off a late challenge from Bedtime Story.
Bedtime Story, trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, nearly completed a remarkable comeback from last to first. Shes Perfect, trained by Charlie Fellowes, briefly led but faded after racing keenly.
Gezora’s victory follows her win in the Prix Saint-Alary.Graffard expressed confidence in the Almanzor filly’s improving form.
“She ran a nice race at Longchamp, she showed something new to me. She’s improving all time and I saw after the race she realy improved again, she was so happy, so confident in herself,” Graffard said.
Coral bookmakers introduced Gezora at 14-1 for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Graffard indicated the race is a possibility, noting Gezora’s preference for soft ground.
Soumillon praised Gezora’s determination. “When they started to quicken in the straight I was following them really easily, I knew she’d be able to change gear and that’s exactly what she did,” he said. “She had a great heart and we won it.”
Owner Peter Brant celebrated the victory as a long-held ambition realized. He noted that his White Birch farm colors had previously been carried by Sistercharlie, who finished second in the same race in 2017.
“I think it’s probably one of the three or four races I’ve dreamt of winning. I think it’s the greatest three-year-old filly race – it’s always stiff competition,” Brant said.
What’s next
Soumillon suggested the Prix Vermeille as a potential next target for Gezora, assessing her ability to handle a mile and a half. A decision on a Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe bid will be made later.
