Ghanaian Man Dies While on Family Errand at Mankessim Lorry Station

A Ghanaian man, Alex Asante Antwi, has died after collapsing at a public toilet facility at the Mankessim Lorry Station in the Central Region, according to reports.

Eyewitnesses stated that Alex, a traveller, stopped at the station to use the restroom when he suddenly slumped to the ground. Bystanders rushed him to the nearest hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Those who found him searched his pockets and discovered his Ghana Card, identifying him as Alex Asante Antwi. They then used his mobile phone to contact relatives.

A relative informed them that Alex had been sent on an errand by the family head to deliver news of a death to family members in Ansaade, near Adwumako Asiamah. He tragically died before completing this task.

The incident has unsettled residents and commuters at the busy transport hub, with many expressing grief and concern.

This death comes amidst other recent tragic losses within the Ghanaian community. Samuel Acquah, a theatre nurse based in the United Kingdom, recently died at his residence in Southend, leaving behind a wife and two children. Friends described him as a warm and receptive person. The cause of his death remains uncertain, and friends are fundraising to repatriate his remains to Ghana for burial.

Separately, a Ghanaian student, Nana Agyei Oduro Ahyia, died in Latvia under mysterious circumstances in June 2025. His family has disputed claims that his death was a suicide and alleges that Latvian police are protecting individuals involved in his death.

The recent passing of Alex Asante Antwi has sparked conversations about the importance of regular medical check-ups and avoiding self-prescription, highlighting potential health risks within the community.
