In its announcement, the studio promises that the doll host ensures that no employees are accidentally murdered or injured to the point that it interferes with their primary work duties.
Giant Light Studios has released an expanded and reworked demo of Mr. Magpie’s Harmless Card Game on Steam. The title blends corporate satire with card-based mechanics drawn from Minesweeper and roguelike progression systems.
Mr. Magpie’s Harmless Card Game Reworks Minesweeper into Corporate Bureaucracy
In the deckbuilder, players sit at a card table across from a sewn-together doll in a red cardigan that runs the firm, sets quotas, and insists that nothing is dangerous with a fixed grin. The mechanic lets employees get up and explore the boss’s dark, wood-paneled office under a single overhead lamp. Previous trailers showed the player trapped inside an elevator with the doll.
Underneath the horror theme, the gameplay adapts Minesweeper to office politics. Each round lays out a grid of face-down cards that grant money and multipliers when turned over. Hint cards narrow down where JERRY cards are hidden, but uncovering the wrong card causes the round to collapse. Players fill their deck with perks and synergies while climbing the corporate ladder.

New SHARES System and Walkabout Mechanics Join the Strategy Rework
The interior design reinforces the game’s premise, featuring a framed rule warning players against misusing JERRY’s name, alongside hint cards openly marked as lies. Behaviour Interactive, the Montréal-based developer behind Dead by Daylight, serves as co-publisher alongside Gambit Digital.
The collaboration brings Mr. Magpie-themed rewards into Dead by Daylight. Project lead Matthew Brelsford and Giant Light Studios are using the partnership to reach a broad horror audience. The updated demo includes Simplified Chinese localization alongside general polish and bug fixes.
Steam Next Fest Debut Prepares for Full PC Launch
The full game remains in development for PC via Steam without a confirmed release date. Players can download the updated demo directly through the Steam platform.
