ROME - Italian singer-songwriter Giorgio Poi is set to release his fourth studio album, “Schegge” (Splinters), on may 2. The album, released by Bomba Dischi/Sony Music, is preceded by the single “Leg Games.”
‘Leg Games’: A Glimpse into ‘Schegge’
“Leg Games” features what some are calling an irresistible melody, magnetic bass line and captivating rhythm. The song weaves together fragments of thought, daily snapshots, and poetic imagery, as seen in lyrics such as, “I turn with the finger on the scotch tape / Games of legs in the box / We are looking for the sea in the shells / I would like to know how to speak in all languages.”
Poi describes the album’s core message as captured in the line, “In this great explosion we are the splinters,” reflecting the creative process’s focus on preservation and balance amidst constant change.
“Chronologically is the last piece I wrote for this album, and perhaps for this reason it seemed right to me as a piece of opening, becuase I thought that it would collect, albeit confusedly, the sanctions and thoughts of the entire time span in which I worked on these songs.”
– Giorgio Poi

Laurent Brancowitz of the French band Phoenix, a long-time admirer of Poi’s music, provided supervision.
