Del Toro Secures Stunning Giro Stage Win in Bormio

Isaac Del Toro emerged victorious in a thrilling stage at teh Giro, marking the first Mexican stage winner in 23 years. The 21-year-old cyclist demonstrated exceptional skill during the 155km stage from San Michele all’Adige to Bormio, particularly on the descent.
Richard Carapaz, the 2019 Giro winner, attempted to break away on the Mortirolo climb, gaining a 30-second lead over Del Toro and Yates. though, the main contenders caught carapaz before the final climb of Le Motte.
Del Toro then launched his own attack near the summit of Le Motte, with only Carapaz able to keep pace.The pair caught Bardet,who was leading,but Del Toro ultimately outmaneuvered Carapaz in the final sprint to claim the stage victory and showcase his prowess in this year’s Giro d’Italia.
“Everyone wants this [pink jersey] and today I realised that I will never give up and I will always try and stay one step in front,” Del Toro saeid.
Del Toro also noted his growing confidence throughout the Giro. ”I think this is my third or fourth podium in this year’s Giro – it’s incredible. I have nothing to lose.Today was not easier than yesterday but I had a better mentality,” he said. He credited his team for their support, saying, “I did this last climb with the team and they gave me the confidence to go for it, full gas.”

The Giro continues with a 144km stage featuring three climbs in the first half, followed by flatter terrain as riders travel from Morbegno to Cesano Maderno.
