Barney Walsh, the actor and presenter known for co-hosting the BBC game show Gladiators
with his father, Bradley Walsh, has been handed a six-month driving ban following a speeding violation on a motorway.
The 28-year-old was sentenced at Romford Magistrates’ Court on April 8, 2026, after pleading guilty to exceeding a temporary speed restriction. The court heard that Walsh was driving his 2023 black Mercedes-Benz SUV on the M4 near Bristol on October 27, 2025.
Details of the Offence
The incident occurred at junction 19 on the westbound carriageway of the M4 in South Gloucestershire. At the time, a temporary maximum speed restriction of 50mph was in place.
Walsh was recorded traveling at 58mph, which was eight miles over the designated temporary limit. The offense was noted as being in contravention of a Local Traffic Order.
Court Proceedings and Sentencing
Walsh did not attend the hearing in person. His lawyer, Gwyn Lewis, informed the court that work commitments
had taken him out of England at the moment
.

During the proceedings, Mr. Lewis revealed that Walsh already had nine penalty points on his driving licence. Because a minor speeding offence typically results in three additional points, the total would have reached 12, the threshold at which motorists are typically banned from driving.
I’m not instructed to resist the disqualification and he has been told he is not to drive from last night.
Gwyn Lewis, representing Barney Walsh
Chairwoman of the magistrates’ bench Janis Sanders issued the six-month driving ban. In addition to the disqualification, the court ordered Walsh to pay the following financial penalties:
- A fixed penalty notice of £72
- A surcharge of £28
- Prosecution costs of £85
Mr. Lewis stated that Walsh was in a position to pay the fixed penalty notice within a 28-day window.
