Glastonbury: The Prodigy Headline – Fans React
Viewers criticised the decision to put The Prodigy on the Other Stage during closing night
As Glastonbury Festival came to an end on Sunday (29th June), The Prodigy headlined on the Other stage while Olivia Rodrigo performed on the Pyramid stage.
With more than 200,000 music lovers having arrived at Worthy Farm on Wednesday (June 25), fans were eager to see which Sunday act would pull in the biggest crowd as the festival closed.
The band hail from Braintree in Essex and are often referred to as one of the most successful electronic music groups with them selling an estimated 25 million records worldwide.
Their headliner performance at Glastonbury festival is the first since the death of the band’s frontman Keith Flint in 2019. The band first played the iconic festival in 1995 and last took to its stage in 2009.
After taking a break from touring, The Prodigy announced in March 2022 that they would be embarking on a ten-date tour of the UK , before announcing that they would also be returning to live shows outside of the UK in October 2022.
Alongside this, the band also revealed plans for a 2026 UK and Ireland Arena tour.
While 22-year-old Olivia Rodrigo took to the main stage making her the second-youngest to headline after Billie Eilish, fans of The Prodigy made a complaint.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @NuukwanCh wrote: “how prodigy not on the main stage” as @liamgriffiths85 added: “@the_prodigy Only been on 5 mins and already putting all the other Glasto headliners to shame, Pure class”
Another viewer @gurminder penned: “Just an unbelievable set from @the_prodigy at #Glastonbury2025 should have been on the Pyramid Stage”
@TriciaUtd also wrote: “The Prodigy smashing Glastonbury!!! Wow! Should be closing on the Pyramid stage!!”
The final day of the festival was hit with criticism as Sir Rod Stewart was branded “disrespectful” after his message to festival founder, Sir Michael Eavis.
After disappearing off stage during his set to do a quick change, Rod returned in a bright pink suit and fished around in his pocket before pulling out a note.
He then announced: “Happy Birthday to Michael Eavis, he’s the guy who founded Glastonbury,
“Let’s all give him a big round of applause. Michael, where are ya? Don’t be shy!”
