Glave ⁤Sprints to 100m Victory at Paavo Nurmi Games

Great Britain’s Romell Glave sprinted to victory in the men’s⁤ 100m final at‍ the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland.⁤ Glave’s time of 10.08 seconds edged out Canada’s Jerome Blake (10.09) and ⁤Ghana’s Benjamin ⁣Azamati (10.10).⁢ The event, ⁢part of the World Athletics Continental⁢ Tour Gold meeting, saw Glave outpace a strong field that included Olympic medalists.

Andre De Grasse of Canada, ⁢the 2020 Tokyo Olympics 200m gold ⁢medalist, finished sixth⁤ wiht a time of 10.23 seconds. Marcell Jacobs, the reigning Olympic 100m champion, finished ⁣last in 10.44 seconds, marking his return to competition since the 2024 Games in Paris.

Glave, ‍25, ⁤noted⁤ the win was a form of redemption. He said it made up for finishing behind Jacobs ⁤at the⁤ 2024⁤ European Championships.

In other events, Britain’s Morgan Lake secured the women’s high jump title on countback, both she⁤ and Jamaica’s ⁤Lamara Distin clearing 1.91m. Kristjan Ceh of Slovenia continued his ‍dominant season,winning ⁢the discus with a throw of 70.61m. ‍Matt Denny of Australia⁢ and⁢ Daniel Stahl of Sweden followed,‍ each surpassing 70‍ meters.

Dylan Beard of the USA set a meeting record in the 110m men’s hurdles ‍with a time of ⁤13.16 seconds. Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji won the women’s 100m hurdles final in 12.66 seconds, narrowly defeating ⁣Pia Skrzyszowska.New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs set a ⁣meeting record in the women’s 100m, clocking 11.07 seconds.

Germany’s Frederik Ruppert also established a meeting record in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase, finishing in 8 minutes 10.39 seconds.
