Glenn Yong NDP 2025: Actor Returns After Hospital Discharge

Local actor Yong Ser Seng collapsed during the National Day Parade (NDP) on August 9th, causing concern amongst viewers. He has as reassured the public about his health, attributing the incident too pushing himself too hard during exercise earlier in the day.
Health scare at the NDP
Yong,known for his roles in local productions,was attending his fourth NDP when he experienced a health scare. He was seen on camera looking unwell and subsequently collapsed while seated in the audience. Paramedics instantly attended to him,and he was assessed at the scene.
Following the incident, Yong addressed the public via Shin Min Daily News, explaining that he had engaged in strenuous exercise before attending the parade. “I exercised quite a bit earlier in the day and problably pushed myself too hard,” he shared. He added that he would be more cautious with his exercise regime in the future and avoid overexertion.
He appeared to be in good health in footage captured during the television coverage, wearing a white shirt and receiving medical attention.
A Longtime NDP Enthusiast
Yong has a deep connection to the National Day Parade,having attended the event multiple times throughout his life. He fondly recalled his first NDP experience. “The first time was at the old stadium with my mother and elder brother, the second was when I was in Primary Five and the third was in 2022,” he told Shin Min.
This year, Yong was gifted tickets by a friend and chose to share the experience with his mother and godmother. He described the emotional impact of the event, stating that singing the National Anthem and reciting the National Pledge brought him to tears.
A Renewed Appreciation for Singapore
Despite his health scare, Yong expressed a profound sense of patriotism and love for Singapore. Having spent the past few years working abroad, he gained a broader outlook but ultimately reaffirmed his belief that singapore is the best place to call home.
“I realised how much I love Singapore. I’ve been working abroad for the past few years, and I’ve seen and experienced a lot, but I still think Singapore is the best because it’s my home,” Yong stated. He harbours a dream of one day participating in the parade itself, showcasing his dedication to the nation.
