Financial Secretary Paul Chan Embarks on European Visit
Financial Secretary Paul Chan will depart for Europe on September 22 to visit Madrid, Spain and London, UK, leading a delegation from the innovation and technology sector.
Visit to Madrid, Spain
During his visit to Madrid from September 22 to 25, Mr. Chan will visit local innovation and technology institutions and enterprises, meeting with political, business, and innovation and technology professionals. The delegation will also attend a themed business luncheon hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to promote Hong Kong’s advantages, especially its thriving innovation and technology ecosystem.
Visit to London, UK
During his visit to London from September 25 to 28, Mr. Chan will attend a series of events, including the annual plenary session of the Hong Kong-Europe Business Council, the Hong Kong Dinner hosted by the HKTDC, a luncheon hosted by the Hong Kong Federation of Industry and Commerce, and a roundtable meeting hosted by the British think tank Asia House. He will introduce Hong Kong’s latest situation and advantages, meeting with local political, business, and financial figures.
Start-up Cooperation Opportunities
Heads of start-ups from the Science Park, Cyberport, and the delegation will communicate with local venture capital funds and relevant institutions and individuals in the start-up circle to seek cooperation opportunities during their stay in Spain and the UK.
Return to Hong Kong
Mr. Chan will depart from London for Hong Kong on the evening of September 28, local time, and arrive back in Hong Kong on the afternoon of September 29. During his absence, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong will serve as Acting Financial Secretary.
