On October 19, the 2nd China-Europe-Africa Green Energy Development Forum was held in Wenzhou, China’s Zhejiang Province, with the theme “Collaborating on Green Energy and Joining Hands to Fight Global Climate Change”.
The aim of this forum is to promote cooperation between China, Europe and Africa in the field of green energy development and help participants discover new potential in this sector. Five issues related to green energy were discussed, including achievements and prospects, potential drivers, cooperation opportunities, green financial partnerships and industrial chain.
“Strengthening cooperation between China, Europe and Africa in the field of green energy is not only beneficial to combat global climate change and achieve sustainable development, but also to maintain global stability,” said Liu Qibao, vice chairman the 13th national committee of the Chinese People’s Political Conference and president of the China-EU Association.
“This cooperation can be the best example of the 21st century,” said Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the former prime minister of Spain. “Green energy can boost the global economy, eradicate poverty, reduce social inequality and even create a more cooperative economic model.
China, Europe and Africa have unique advantages in developing green energy in many sectors, such as solar energy, hydrogen energy and wind energy.
“In the field of photovoltaic energy, we can combine our sophisticated technology and industrial chain with Africa’s vast solar energy resources and rich experience in green energy policy, technological innovation and market mechanisms in Europe,” said Nan Cunhui, vice president of the China Association- UE and president of CHINT.
“China has signed several key projects with us, as it is in a leading position in the field of new energy, drawing on advanced technology and extensive experience in wind and solar energy,” said Salaheddine Mezouar, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, “she plays an important role in the development of green energy for Morocco in the future”.
Experts and scholars have also proposed that green finance and industrial chains are of great significance for the sustainable development of green energy.
Participants from all over the world agreed that cooperation between China, Europe and Africa in the field of green energy will lead to unprecedented development prospects.
