Global Outrage Erupts: Israel’s Desecration of Corpses Sparks Widespread Condemnation of ‘Sickening’ and ‘Inhumane’ Act
UN Calls for Transparent Investigation into Abuse of Palestinian Bodies
The United Nations has called for a “transparent investigation” and holding those responsible accountable for the abuse of the bodies of three Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the northern occupied West Bank town of Qabatia.
UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric described the video of Israeli soldiers throwing bodies from rooftops in the occupied West Bank as “disgusting and inhumane”.
Dujarric stressed the need for a “transparent investigation” into the incident and to “hold those responsible accountable”.
Abuse Documented in Qabatia
On Thursday, Israeli occupation army soldiers threw the bodies of three Palestinians from the roof of a house in Qabatia, Jenin Governorate, after surrounding the house since the morning.
An Israeli army bulldozer then moved the bodies using its iron crane with sharp teeth.
Video clips circulated on social media platforms showed an occupation army force arriving on the roof of the house, shooting a dead body, before throwing three bodies from the roof of the house, followed by an explosion.
Casualties and Condemnation
In addition to the three martyrs, the Israeli army killed four Palestinians and injured 10 others during the operation in Qabatia, which continued until Thursday evening, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The incident was the second raid in the town of Qabatia in two days, as Israeli occupation forces stormed the town on Wednesday, surrounding a house and arresting a Palestinian citizen before withdrawing.
UN Concerns over Occupied West Bank
Dujarric expressed “deep concern about the deteriorating situation” in the occupied West Bank, including recent Israeli military operations.
Call for Ceasefire and Peace Efforts
Regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the UN spokesman emphasized the need for a “ceasefire and release of hostages (Israeli prisoners)” in the Palestinian territories.
Dujarric also highlighted the need for “those with their finger on the trigger to make efforts to move towards peace”.
