Global Powers Unite: US, UK, and France Join Forces to Broker Ceasefire Between Israel and Hezbollah
US Works with Allies to Halt Escalating Israel-Hezbollah Conflict
The United States is collaborating with key allies, including France and Britain, to develop proposals aimed at halting the escalating fighting between Israeli forces and Lebanon’s pro-Iranian militia Hezbollah. The conflict has already resulted in significant loss of life and poses a threat of spreading across the Middle East.
The Biden administration is engaged in talks with Israeli officials to explore the possibility of a political settlement between Israel and Hezbollah. A person familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the discussions focus on preventing a full-scale war, creating conditions for the return of displaced northern Israelis, and revitalizing efforts for a ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza.
President Biden expressed his hopes for a ceasefire in Lebanon, stating that it could potentially lead to a response in the West Bank and then to a response in Gaza. However, the White House National Security Council and the State Department declined to comment on the mediation efforts between Lebanon and Israel.
British Foreign Secretary Lamy urged his Iranian counterpart Araghchi to use his influence over Hezbollah to prevent Lebanon from escalating the conflict. France, which maintains an open line of dialogue with Hezbollah, is also involved in the talks, which include a proposal for Israel not to launch a ground invasion and for Hezbollah not to increase its combat forces in the south.

While some Western officials are cautious and see little guarantee of success in the efforts to halt the escalating fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the international community remains committed to finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
