Memphis rapper GloRilla is celebrating a major win.Her collaboration with Kirk Franklin, Maverick City Music, Kierra Sheard, and Chandler Moore on “RAIN DOWN ON ME,” a fusion of gospel and trap, earned her the Dr.Bobby Jones best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2025 BET Awards.
The benny Boom-directed music video for “RAIN DOWN ON ME,” released Monday, depicts a woman’s struggles and the support she receives from her community. The video opens with a young girl in church, then transitions to her as an adult facing hardship, ultimately finding solace and assistance.
During her acceptance speech, GloRilla expressed gratitude. She acknowledged the significance of winning a gospel award, emphasizing her deep faith. “First of all, I want to thank God, ’cause this is a gospel award,” GloRilla said. “It’s a blessing to get the gospel award first, because I owe it all to god.”
GloRilla also shared her initial hesitation about approaching Franklin for the collaboration. “As y’all know how I be rapping,” she joked, adding that she had the song “in the vault for so long.”
