Memphis rapper Glorilla, born Gloria Woods, ⁢is at the center of a legal storm, facing felony drug possession charges. Though, her legal team is vehemently asserting that the ‌artist is, actually, the ⁣victim in a complex case involving drugs, stolen jewelry, adn a home invasion.

The Arrest and‍ the Allegations

The “Yeah Glo!” rapper’s arrest for felony drug⁤ possession ‍on Thursday, July 24, immediately prompted her lawyers to challenge the authorities’ actions and their client’s treatment. According to reports, Glorilla’s home ⁤was broken into over the weekend while she⁤ was out of town.Forsyth county law enforcement responded ⁢to ‍a “burglary in progress” on Saturday, July 19. ⁣It⁢ is alleged that three‌ individuals entered the residence but were⁤ met with gunfire from an “armed occupant” inside,‍ leading to their retreat.

During a sweep⁤ of the property to ensure no remaining threats, ‌deputies reportedly detected a “strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics.” This led to the‍ securing ⁣of ⁣a‍ search⁢ warrant, during which a “important amount of marijuana” was allegedly discovered in the closet of⁢ the main bedroom.

despite not being present during the ‌home invasion, Glorilla was later charged⁢ with felony possession⁣ of marijuana and possession of a Schedule One controlled substance, both serious offenses in Georgia. ⁢She voluntarily ⁤surrendered at the Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday, posted a $22,260 bond, and was released the same day, as confirmed by TMZ Hip⁤ Hop.

glorilla’s defense: Victim, Not Suspect

Glorilla’s attorneys, Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling, have strongly⁢ criticized ‍the legal proceedings, arguing that their ⁢client is being ⁢unfairly ⁣targeted. In a⁢ statement to the press, they declared, “The arrest of Gloria Woods is a⁢ disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities‌ have⁤ become.”

The legal team elaborated on the circumstances, stating, “Ms. Woods was out of town when her residence became a ⁣target for a group of home invaders who⁤ most likely knew she wasn’t there. What ⁣they didn’t know was that she had family staying with her that were traumatized by the violent entrance of this group‌ who⁣ grabbed⁤ high-value jewelry before taking off once they realized the home wasn’t vacant.”

Adding to their statement, the law firm emphasized the ⁣lack of action against⁣ the‍ alleged intruders: “No arrest warrants have been issued for the violent home invaders. Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect.[These are] our tax dollars⁤ at work,⁢ absolutely amazing.”

Glorilla Speaks Out

On Thursday, July 24, Glorilla herself shared her ‌perspective⁣ on the situation via a post on X. ”Long story short my house [was] home invaded and I’m the only one [who] gets arrested,” she⁢ wrote. The rapper also clarified her whereabouts during the incident, noting that she was in Indianapolis performing at the WNBA All-Star game over the weekend. This statement further bolsters her legal team’s narrative that she was an absent victim of a crime.
