ABC’s⁣ Morning Show Sees Meaningful Gains,While NBC’s Today Experiences Declines

New York,NY – ‌July 21,2024 ⁢ – In a significant shift in the morning television landscape,ABC News’ Good ⁢Morning America has once again ascended to the top spot as America’s most-watched morning show for the week of July 21. This marks a triumphant return to No. 1 for GMA in the crucial Adults 25-54 demographic, a position it last held consistently in August 2023.

The ‍victory comes‍ as good Morning America edged out NBC News’ Today by a narrow margin of 7,000 viewers in the ‍advertiser-coveted Adults 25-54‌ demo. This win is ⁤notably noteworthy as Today was the only morning program to experience viewership declines across the board during the same week.

GMA’s Momentum and Today’s Stumble

According to Nielsen’s live-plus-same-day data, Good Morning⁣ america averaged an remarkable 2.625 million total viewers⁤ and 481,000 viewers in the Adults 25-54 demographic for the week. This performance represents a solid +1% increase in total ⁢viewers and a substantial +8% surge in the demo compared to the previous week. While GMA‘s total viewership ‌saw a slight -1% dip compared to the same week in 2023, its performance in the key demo remained flat, ⁢demonstrating resilience in a⁤ competitive environment.

In stark contrast, Today now ‍finds ‍itself in second place in ‌both measured categories. The NBC morning show⁢ garnered 2.297 million total viewers and 474,000 demo viewers for the week. This represents a ⁢concerning -5% drop in total viewers and a significant -10% decline in the Adults 25-54 demo when compared ⁣to⁣ the prior⁣ week. Looking back at the same week in 2023, Today‘s viewership was down even more sharply, ⁤with a -12% decrease in total viewers and a steep -20% fall in the demo.

CBS Mornings Shows Mixed results

Meanwhile, CBS Mornings reported 1.8 million total viewers⁣ and 287,000 viewers in ‌the Adults 25-54 ⁤demo.⁢ While the program saw a -2% decrease in total viewers week-over-week, it achieved a notable double-digit gain of +11% in the‍ demo. this made CBS Mornings the‌ only network to post positive double-digit movement in either of the ⁤measured categories. ‌However, when compared to the same week in 2023, CBS Mornings experienced a -10% decline in total viewers and a -20% drop‍ in the demo.
