Physical education plays a vital role in the development of athletes, and the recent success of the Hong Kong Paralympic delegation is a testament to this.
The last group of Hong Kong Paralympic delegation returned to Hong Kong, and Chan Ho Yuen expressed his hope that citizens would continue to support disabled athletes.
Chan Ho Yuen’s Message of Hope
Hong Kong Paralympic badminton representative Chan Ho Yuen said, “I have represented Hong Kong for nearly 16 years. In the last international competition, I hoped that the medal (bronze) would change color. As a result, it really changed color (silver medal), and I fulfilled my promise. Some athletes deserve applause for winning medals, while some athletes may fall a little short and not win medals. I hope everyone will continue to pay attention to them in the Nagoya Asian Para Games in two years, or the Los Angeles Paralympic Games in four years. I hope everyone can continue to support every disabled athlete.”
Ng Cheuk-yan’s Record-Breaking Achievement
Paralympic swimming women’s SB6 100m breaststroke bronze medalist Ng Cheuk-yan said, “I never thought I could break So Wa-wai’s youngest (medal-winning) record. I feel very honored to be able to break this record at the age of 14.”
Chan Ruei-lam’s Silver Medal Win
Paralympic swimming women’s S14 silver medalist Chan Ruei-lam said, “I am a little moved and very happy. I told myself that I completed a competition, and this Olympic medal is my first (individual) one.” Chan Ruei-lam said that she would rest after returning to Hong Kong, and then she would improve her swimming style with her coach, hoping to win gold in the next Games.
Chu Wen-kai’s Determination
Badminton representative Chu Wen-kai said that he was disappointed that he failed to win a medal, but reaching the semi-finals also confirmed his ability. What he needs most now is to adjust his mentality.
Hong Kong’s Paralympic Success
This year’s Paralympic Games saw 23 Hong Kong players compete and win 3 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals, a total of eight medals.
