The 17th Summer Paralympic Games came to a close in Paris, France on September 8. The Chinese sports delegation achieved outstanding results, securing 94 gold medals, 76 silver medals, and 50 bronze medals, ranking first in both the gold medal table and the medal table for six consecutive Paralympic Games. Liaoning athletes made a significant contribution, winning 10 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals, a total of 23 medals, and breaking 5 world records, 3 Paralympic records, and 1 Asian record.
A total of 18 athletes from Liaoning participated in various competitions, including track and field, cycling, weightlifting, archery, swimming, rowing, blind judo, blind football, and sitting volleyball. Our athletes demonstrated tenacity, pursued excellence, and dared to win in the competition. The number of gold medals and medals exceeded that of the previous Paralympic Games, with the number of gold medals doubling compared to the previous Paralympic Games. This achievement marked a breakthrough in middle and long distance wheelchair racing in China and secured a gold medal in the women’s discus in our province. The level of competitive sports for the disabled in our province ranks among the top in the country, and Liaoning has contributed significantly to the success of the Chinese sports delegation.
