Historic Wins for Hong Kong Boccia Team
BC1 level player Lung Chi-kin won the first gold medal for the Hong Kong team, while BC3-level He Wanqi finally achieved her dream of winning a gold medal after three Paralympics. She won the individual competition and then teamed up with Hsieh Tak-wah to win the gold medal in the pairs competition.

He Wanqi’s Scholarship to Give Back to Society
He Wanqi plans to use her bonus to give back to society by setting up the He Wanqi Scholarship to help young people. She believes that young people are the future of Hong Kong and wants to encourage more people to participate in boccia.
“I remember the first time I participated in the Paralympic Games in Brazil, when I failed in the quarterfinals of the individual competition. My assistant and husband, Li Rongjie, told me that we must be on the podium next time. He hopes that the people of Hong Kong and even the world will know what Wan Qi is like as a bocce player. But I am greedy and I don’t want just one player. He Wanqi, I hope there are many He Wanqi.”
Zhang Yuan Wins Silver in BC4 Level Competitions
Zhang Yuan won silver in the BC4 level individual and pairs competitions. Her partner Liang Yurong, a veteran of the Paralympic stage, has accumulated three gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal in his Paralympic career.
“My goal this year is to win the gold medal in the pairs event. Although I didn’t get it this time, I am very happy to win the silver medal. My future goals are to win a Paralympic doubles event.”
Liang Yurong expressed his gratitude to his partner and hopes to continue competing at the next Los Angeles Paralympics.
“Thank you Liang Yurong for taking me, and I hope I can do well in the next four years. Play every game well and get tickets for the next session.”
