Sanxiang Metropolis Daily, September 7 – At approximately 23:00 Beijing time on September 6, Liu Li, a talented judoka from Changsha, Hunan, secured the gold medal in the women’s J1-70kg final of the Paris Paralympic Blind Judo. This remarkable achievement marks the 11th gold medal won by Hunan athletes in the ongoing Paralympic Games.
Liu Li, born in October 1998, has overcome incredible challenges to reach the pinnacle of success in blind judo. Orphaned at a young age, Liu Li found solace in judo, which became her passion and driving force. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, she honed her skills and developed a unique sense of touch that enabled her to excel in the sport.

Liu Li’s journey to success was not without its obstacles. She faced numerous injuries, including blisters and calluses on her hands and feet, which are common in blind judo. However, her determination and perseverance ultimately paid off, as she rose through the ranks to become a world-class athlete.

Liu Li’s impressive record includes first-place finishes in the J1-70kg class of the 2023 Azerbaijan World Blind Judo Grand Prix, the 2023 World Blind Games in the UK, and the 2023 National Blind Judo Championships. Her outstanding performance in the women’s J1-70kg blind judo competition at the Paris Paralympic Games earned her a well-deserved spot on the podium.
