Hong Kong Chinese Team’s Paris Paralympic Games Success
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee congratulates the Chinese Hong Kong delegation on their outstanding performance in the Paris Paralympic Games.
The Hong Kong team completed the last two events on the tenth day of the Paris Paralympic Games, ending up with three gold, four silver, and one bronze medals, a total of eight medals, setting the best record since the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. Lee Ka-chiu praised the athletes for giving their all in the competition and showing the world the indomitable Hong Kong spirit and the outstanding strength of Hong Kong’s disabled athletes.
Lee Ka-chiu commended the athletes for their perseverance and determination, overcoming various obstacles and persisting in hard training to successfully step onto the stage of the Paralympic Games. “No matter what the results are, each of them is a fighter for life, and a hero and role model in the hearts of Hong Kong citizens. We are deeply proud and proud.”
The Hong Kong team members participating in this Paralympic Games include not only experienced senior athletes but also rising stars who are participating in the Paralympic Games for the first time. They have demonstrated teamwork and mutual support in the arena, and have jointly demonstrated their extraordinary skills and professionalism, achieving outstanding results time and time again.
Lee Ka-chiu expressed his gratitude to the coaching team, medical staff, and support team for their dedication and careful training of the athletes. He also affirmed the contribution of the Hong Kong Sports Institute, the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee of China, and various sports associations in promoting the development of local Paralympic sports.
The SAR government fully supports the development of sports for the disabled, investing over HK$130 million in the budget to promote the development of sports for people with disabilities, an increase of over 40% compared to five years ago. The “Pilot Program for Employment and Education of Disabled Athletes” was launched last year to help disabled athletes learn the skills and knowledge needed for transformation and development after retirement.
The Paris Paralympic Games will hold a closing ceremony, where badminton player Chan Ho Yuen and swimmer Chan Rui Lin will serve as flag bearers for the delegation.
