01 The 2024 China Ministry of Commerce Scholarship Award Ceremony was successfully held

On August 27, the “2024 China Ministry of Commerce Scholarship Award Ceremony” was held in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia and Myanmar Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kanzo attended and delivered speeches. Counselor Ouyang Daobing of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, officials from relevant Myanmar government departments and more than 100 scholarship students attended the event.

This event not only witnessed another milestone in the cooperation between China and Myanmar in the field of education, but also profoundly demonstrated the two sides’ firm determination and remarkable achievements in jointly cultivating future talents with international vision and professional skills.

02 The date for Myanmar’s national election is tentatively determined

It is reported that the Myanmar State Administration Council announced at an important meeting with political parties on August 24 that the authorities are making intensive preparations for the national election to be held in November 2025. The Union Election Commission reminded all political parties at the meeting and asked them to make preparations in advance.

03 Myanmar Port Industry Development Outlook Seminar Held

On August 27, 2024, a seminar on the development prospects of Myanmar’s port industry was held at CITIC Myanmar’s Yangon office.

The seminar was hosted by CITIC Myanmar and co-organized by China Harbour Engineering Company. U Win Myint, Vice Chairman of the Kyaukpyu Special Zone Management Committee, attended the seminar. U Nei Myo Nyunt, Chief Engineer of Myanmar Port Authority, Dr. Sandanai, Vice President of Myanmar Maritime University, and other Myanmar experts, as well as Professor Zhang Jing (Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund) of East China Normal University Estuarine and Coastal Studies, Qin Jie, Chief Engineer of China Communications Construction Fourth Engineering Institute, and other Chinese experts delivered keynote speeches. More than 30 representatives from CITIC Construction and China Rural Development Foundation attended the seminar.
