Golden Week Frenzy: Disney Hotel Bookings Soar to 80% as National Day Approaches
National Day Golden Week Approaches: Disney Hotel Booking Rate Hits 80%
Hong Kong Disneyland is gearing up for the National Day Golden Week, with the hotel booking rate reaching 80%. The park is optimistic about sales, thanks to its unique positioning and special activities.
Halloween Celebrations at Disney
Disney has prepared a series of Halloween-themed snacks and sweets, including treats in the shape of Frozen characters, Olaf, and snowmen. The park is expecting a surge in visitor numbers, with Golden Week still half a month away.
Confidence in Sales
According to Disney, 70% of its occupancy rate during last year’s Golden Week came from mainland guests. The park is hoping to continue this trend and is confident about sales.
No Worries About Competition
Disney welcomes the addition of giant panda twins to Ocean Park and isn’t worried about increasing competition. Huang Qinglong, Director of Food and Beverage at Disneyland, believes that Disney has its unique positioning and will continue to attract guests.
Hotel Industry Concerns
While Disney’s hotel is full, the hotel industry points out that the overall hotel business in Hong Kong is struggling. Xu Yingwei, executive director of the Hotel Owners Association, notes that hotel yields have fallen by 10% to 20% during the summer holidays.
Need for Special Tourism Products
Xu Yingwei emphasizes the need for Hong Kong to promote special tourism products in different seasons to attract more repeat customers. He believes that the city needs to focus on content to attract tourists, rather than relying on price drops.
Competition from Neighboring Areas
Hong Kong faces fierce competition from neighboring areas, many of which have visa exemption agreements. Xu Yingwei stresses the importance of advertising and promoting different tourism products to stay ahead of the competition.
