Gomorrah’ Writers Tackle Italy’s White Uno Gang in New Crime Series
“Gomorrah” Writers Tackle Italy‘s most notorious Gang in New Crime Thriller
From the creators of the hit series ”Gomorrah” comes a gripping new crime thriller exploring the chilling story of Italy’s White Uno Gang.
Leonardo Fasoli and maddalena Ravagli, the acclaimed writing duo behind the internationally successful “Gomorrah,” are set to delve into one of Italy’s darkest chapters with a new series chronicling the reign of terror unleashed by the White Uno Gang.
The white Uno Gang, a group of mostly police officers with ties to the far right, terrorized Italy during the 1980s and 1990s. Named after the Fiat uno cars they favored, the gang carried out over 100 armed robberies, leaving a trail of 24 deaths and 102 injuries.
While the gang leaders were eventually apprehended and brought to justice, their extreme violence and the seemingly paltry loot from many of their heists have fueled speculation that they were more than just common criminals. Theories abound, suggesting possible links to terrorism and even Italian secret services.
“The real events are so extreme they feel like fiction,” says Riccardo Tozzi, a veteran producer of acclaimed crime series like “Gomorrah,” “ZeroZeroZero,” and Netflix’s “Suburra.” Tozzi, along with Pietro Valsecchi (“Quo Vado?”), will produce the series through their companies Cattleya and Moontrip.
Fasoli and Ravagli, who will also serve as producers, aim to unravel the mysteries surrounding the White Uno Gang. ”We are aiming to reconstruct the events while exploring the personalities of both the criminals and those around them,” they explain. “The investigative narrative will unfold in parallel to the story of the atrocious crimes that were committed. Justice won in this case, and now we want to tell that story.”
This new series promises to shed light on a dark chapter in Italian history, offering a chilling glimpse into the minds of the perpetrators and the impact their actions had on the nation. With the creative team behind “Gomorrah” at the helm, audiences can expect a gripping and thought-provoking exploration of crime, corruption, and the enduring quest for justice.
