The Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office investigated the case of Jinghua City and found that former Taipei Mayor Ko Wenzhe and Vice Mayor Peng Zhensheng committed crimes such as accepting bribes and soliciting profits in violation of the Corruption Crimes Regulations and detained the two without permission. The Taipei District Court believed that the prosecutor could not establish evidence that Ke Wenzhe’s criminal suspicion was serious, it ruled that Ke Wenzhe should be returned without bail, and the Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office suspected Peng Zhensheng of serious crimes and charged his accomplices. As it happened, the association’s executive secretary Shao Xiupei did not arrive on the case and was ordered to be detained without permission. On September 2, 1989, with the completion of the underground railway project, the new Taipei Main Station was officially opened to traffic and remains in use to this day. Taipei Main Station was established during the Guangzhou period of the Qing Dynasty (1891) and is located near today’s Beimen MRT Station. The second-generation station, built by the Japanese in 1901, occupies roughly the same location as the current station, and the core of the station is in the Renaissance style. Due to insufficient space, it was converted into a modernist building in 1936. It is the third generation station and the most widely used one.
