On September 2, 1989, with the completion of the underground railway project, the new Taipei Main Station was officially opened to traffic and remains in use to this day. Taipei Main Station was established during the Guangzhou period of the Qing Dynasty (1891) and is located near today’s Beimen MRT Station.
