Google Assistant Reliability Issues Acknowledged, Major Improvements Teased for Fall
Google has officially acknowledged the ongoing reliability issues plaguing its Assistant on home devices, offering a sincere apology to users experiencing frustration. In a recent statement, the company assured customers that they are actively working on important improvements, with more details expected to be shared in the fall.

We hear you loud and clear and are committed to getting this right – and making sure we have a long term solution that provides better reliability and capability. We have been actively working on major improvements for [some time] and will have more to share in the fall.
While the statement doesn’t explicitly name the technology behind these upcoming enhancements,it’s highly probable that Google’s advanced AI model,Gemini,will play a central role. Google has been gradually integrating Gemini into its Assistant features over the past year, with some of these improvements already beginning to surface on devices like the Nest Audio.
The timing of further announcements remains somewhat fluid. While it’s possible we could hear more leading up to Google’s August 20 launch event for the Pixel 10 series, the “fall” timeline suggests a more comprehensive rollout might occur after this event.
