Google Enhances Android Bluetooth tracking with Find Hub Update

Updated June 25, 2025

Google is set to roll out an update to it’s Find Hub network, ‍offering Android users a more robust⁤ Bluetooth tracking experience. The move aims to improve the location accuracy of ⁤devices such as AirTags⁤ and wireless earbuds.

The update, integrated⁤ with Play Services version 25.24, introduces a new setup screen during Android phone configuration. The Play Services changelog notes that Find Hub can now be configured during phone setup, enabling remote device location.

bluetooth trackers function by ⁢broadcasting a Bluetooth LE identifier, which nearby phones detect. These ⁢phones then report the signal’s approximate location,‍ allowing ⁣the owner⁣ to pinpoint the tag. Google’s find‍ Hub network, previously known as Find My Device, initially had restrictions on⁢ its functionality due to privacy concerns.

Initially, Find Hub operated primarily in densely populated areas to ensure multiple phones contributed to location accuracy. Though, this limited its effectiveness in ⁢less crowded environments. The setting to enable finding in ‍all areas was ⁢buried deep within system settings, making it arduous for users to discover. For Pixel phones, the setting is located under Security > Device finders ‍> Find Hub > Find yoru offline devices.

What’s next

With the upcoming update, Google aims to make⁢ the Find Hub network more accessible and effective, providing Android⁢ users⁢ with a reliable solution for tracking their devices.
