Google’s AI features are now available to subscribers of Google Workspace Standard, Plus, and Enterprise plans (both Standard and Plus), as well as those who have the Google AI Pro for education add-on. This expands access beyond initial limited releases.
Workspace Plan Details
The AI features are included with several Google Workspace subscription tiers. Google Workspace plans are tiered based on storage, features, and support levels.The availability of AI features is tied to these plans, offering enhanced capabilities to paying customers.
- Standard: Includes core collaboration tools and 2TB of pooled storage per user.
- Plus: Adds enhanced security and compliance features, along with 5TB of pooled storage per user.
- Enterprise: Offers unlimited storage and advanced administrative controls.
Release Schedule and Domains
The rollout of these AI features is staggered based on the release schedule assigned to each Google Workspace domain. Rapid release domains received the update first, and Scheduled Release domains are now receiving it, starting on Febuary 2, 2024.
Google utilizes two release schedules for Workspace updates: Rapid Release and Scheduled Release.Rapid release domains receive new features and updates sooner, while Scheduled Release domains receive them later, allowing for a more controlled rollout and testing period.
As of January 26,2024,there have been no reported delays or changes to the February 2,2024,rollout date for Scheduled Release domains,according to the Google Workspace Updates blog.
Google AI Pro for Education
Users with the Google AI Pro for Education add-on also have access to these AI features.This add-on provides educators and students with access to advanced AI tools within the Google Workspace surroundings.
