Google Invests Up to $40B in Anthropic as AI Race Intensifies for Compute Power and Cybersecurity AI Advancements

Google plans to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic, combining immediate cash commitments with future performance-based funding to support the AI company’s expanding compute needs. The investment, announced by Alphabet, includes an initial $10 billion at a $350 billion valuation for Anthropic, with an additional $30 billion contingent on the achievement of specific performance targets.

Under the Amazon arrangement, Anthropic is expected to allocate up to $100 billion over time for approximately 5 gigawatts of compute capacity, reflecting the scale of resources required to train and operate next-generation AI systems.
