Google Meet and Microsoft Teams hardware interoperability is now generally available for Android and AOSP meeting-room devices, allowing supported Google Meet rooms to join Microsoft Teams calls and Android-based Teams Rooms to join Google Meet calls, tbreak.com reported. Google began the general rollout on October 1, 2026, stating that the feature may take between one to three days to appear across eligible hardware.

Android Meeting Room Hardware Requirements and Platform Scope

Eligible customers include all Google Workspace accounts utilizing Android or AOSP Google Meet hardware, according to tbreak.com. Android Authority reported that the Android operating system requirement applies strictly to dedicated meeting-room devices rather than standard Meet or Teams applications running on mobile phones and tablets. Google’s device setup documentation illustrates standard room configurations designed for both in-person attendees and remote participants.

This software update expands upon an earlier preview arrangement released in September 2026. While interoperability was previously restricted to ChromeOS-based Meet Rooms and Windows-based Teams Rooms, the October update introduces support for Android-based room hardware.

Meet Hardware Joins Teams Meetings by Default

The cross-platform integration operates in both directions, permitting Meet hardware to dial into Teams meetings and Android-based Teams Rooms to access Meet calls, tbreak.com reported. For Meet-to-Teams connections, users can select a scheduled Teams meeting directly from the room’s calendar interface or manually input the meeting ID and passcode following Google’s setup instructions.

Google notes that Meet hardware can join Teams calls at no additional financial cost, with the capability enabled by default across compatible systems. IT administrators can deactivate the setting for specific organizational units using the Google Admin console. For enterprise offices operating both collaboration platforms within their meeting spaces, tbreak.com emphasized that the primary technical prerequisite is verifying that the room system runs Android or AOSP.

Pexip Options Remain Despite Limited Feature Parity

Google confirmed that the Android interoperability launch does not replace existing Pexip settings already configured for an organizational unit, leaving Pexip Connect available as a separate option for Session Initiation Protocol meetings. Organizations should not expect complete feature parity across platforms. Google cautioned that certain Microsoft Teams functionalities might not operate correctly on Meet hardware, advising IT teams to test specific meeting controls prior to altering room workflows.

Simultaneously, Microsoft released version history updates for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows, detailing app update delivery shifts exclusively through the Pro Management Portal rather than the Microsoft Store, as documented in release notes on learn.microsoft.com. Additional Windows updates introduced local Pan-tilt-zoom camera controls, Windows 11 version support, ad-hoc room reservation buttons, and automatic health signal remediations managed via the Pro Management Portal.
