Google released the April 2026 software update for Pixel devices on April 7, 2026. The update focuses on system stability and includes five specific bug fixes targeting applications, the user interface, display graphics, and wireless connectivity.
This release follows a more extensive update cycle in March 2026, which provided users with a Pixel Feature Drop and a quarterly build. Because of the previous month’s significant updates, the April release is smaller in scope and primarily serves as a maintenance patch.
According to the Pixel Update Bulletin for April 2026 published by the Android Open Source Project, the update addresses security vulnerabilities and functional improvements for supported Pixel hardware.
Application and System Fixes
The update addresses two distinct issues within the apps category. First, Google resolved a problem where the Backup menu was missing from System settings under certain conditions. This fix is applicable to the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet.
Second, the update includes a fix for an issue that caused certain banking and third-party applications to crash in specific conditions. This resolution is available for a broader range of devices, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10a.
User Interface and Display Improvements
Within the user interface, Google has fixed an issue where the quick search bar would occasionally be missing from the home screen in certain conditions. This fix applies to the same wide array of devices as the banking app resolution, spanning from the Pixel 6 series through the Pixel 10 series, including the Fold and Tablet models.

For display and graphics, the update addresses a bug causing some games to crash under certain conditions. This specific fix is limited to the newest hardware, specifically the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10a.
Connectivity and File Sharing
The update also includes a fix for the WiFi category, specifically targeting Quick Share. The patch resolves an issue where Quick Share would crash during file transfers in certain conditions. This fix is exclusively available for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Google has stated that these fixes are available for all supported Pixel devices unless otherwise specified, though some improvements may be specific to certain carriers or regions.
