Google Willow Quantum Processor Powers UK Research

Google and NQCC Collaborate to Advance Quantum computing Research

Partnership Aims to Accelerate quantum Application discovery

Google is collaborating with the UK National Quantum Computing Center (NQCC) to provide UK researchers with access to Google’s advanced Willow quantum processors,as announced on December 12,2025. This initiative seeks to accelerate the development of practical applications for quantum computers and address some of the world’s most complex challenges.

Building on Existing UK Investment

This collaboration expands Google’s existing partnership with the UK, including a previously announced £5 billion investment in the UK’s AI economy earlier in 2025. Google is also working with the UK government through a partnership to explore the potential of quantum computing and other groundbreaking technologies.

Call for Research Proposals

Scientists are invited to submit proposals for high-impact research projects utilizing quantum hardware.The deadline for submissions is january 31, 2026, with successful applicants receiving access to Google Willow processors and research grants from the NQCC.
