Governors Ball Music Festival to Remain in Flushing Meadows Corona park Through 2030
The Governors Ball music Festival will continue to call Flushing Meadows Corona Park home for the next six years,following a new agreement announced on January 6,2024. The deal extends the festival’s presence in the park through 2030, solidifying its position as a major annual event in new York City.
The agreement was reached between Founders Entertainment, the festival’s producer, and the flushing Meadows Corona Park Conservancy, alongside the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. It builds upon a previous agreement that saw the festival relocate to the park in 2021 after previously being held at Randall’s Island.

The partnership emphasizes a commitment to responsible event management and the long-term health of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. According to Anthony Sama, director of the venue alliance, the festival’s contribution extends beyond entertainment value. “We’re proud to support governors Ball and grateful for their ongoing commitment to Flushing Meadows corona Park,” Sama stated. “Their partnership helps demonstrate how responsible events can contribute to the care, vitality, and long-term sustainability of one of New York City’s most important and iconic public spaces.”

History of Governors Ball and Park Location
Governors Ball Music Festival was first held in 2011 on Governors Island, so the name. The festival quickly grew in popularity, attracting major musical acts and large crowds. In 2021, due to logistical challenges and space constraints on Governors Island, the festival moved to Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The move to Flushing Meadows corona Park was announced by the NYC department of Parks and Recreation in October 2021.
Flushing Meadows Corona Park, a sprawling 897-acre park in Queens, has a rich history, having hosted two World’s Fairs (1939 and 1964). It currently features iconic landmarks such as the Unisphere,the new York Hall of Science,and Citi Field. The park’s size and accessibility make it an ideal location for large-scale events like Governors Ball.
